"Rappahannock elementary school exceeded all the passing percentages for full accreditation in every subject except history," said Charles Pyle, communications director of the Virginia Department of Education, explaining why it received the "Provisionally Accredited" rating.
"You are going to have fluctuations every year because of the changing students," Mr. Pyle said. "That's why the board allows for the use of a three-year average in the calculation of accreditation."
In other subjects, Rappahannock Elementary School had the following test scores: English, 75 (the year before 83); mathematics, 84 (the year before 87); science, 87 (the year before 100).
On the high school level, Rappahannock students had the following test scores which show a notable increase in mathematics and history scores: English, 83 (the year before 85); history, 88 (the year before 69); mathematics, 67 (the year before 52); science, 85 (the year before 87).
