Neil Rizos, painter and printmaker, will exhibit at Blueridge Artisans in Sperryville.
The show will hang Nov. 29 through Dec. 16. An artist’s reception will be held Friday evening, Nov. 29 from 5-8.

Rizos hails from upstate New York. He has painted since childhood, working in oils, pastels and at printmaking.
He began his career as an artist upon graduation from college.
The early years of his career found him wandering the hills of Montana, ranging north to the Arctic tundra.
Much of his work reflects these early northwestern influences.
As his work matured, he focused on the landscape and his lifelong love of birds.
He returned to the east coast in the early 90’s and began an annual cycle of migration, moving with the seasons, following the birds. Rizos first showed in Virginia 1992, at Airlie Foundation’s Earth Day Art Show.
Shortly thereafter, he became Airlie’s artist-in-residence. His time at Airlie saw a significant transition in his work.
Following a yearlong hiatus in 1995, Rizos turned toward a more abstract-expressionist style.
The work is comprised in a group he refers to as the Antelope Dream Series.
In 1998, Rizos left Airlie for a tour of Ireland.
He spent time there moving from place to place; studying the landscape and gathering himself for the work that would follow.
