The group became the Quartet a year later when Lionel Hampton joined and brought his vibraphone.
The Theatre in Washington will present a tribute to the master of the swing clarinet Saturday, Feb. 21. Downbeat is at 8 p.m.
That’s when the sounds of “Avalon,” “Body and Soul,” “Runnin’Wild” and other melodies Goodman made famous will ring out.
The Brooks Tegler Quartet gives new life to the swing jazz of the Benny Goodman Quartet as well as the Trio. As they assemble on stage, the four musicians represent well over a hundred years experience at swing.
Brooks Tegler is the drummer. Larry Eanet is on the piano. And identical twins Joe and Paul Midiri finish out the quartet— Joe playing the clarinet, Paul on vibes.
