Long a popular part of the point-to-point circuit, most of Virginia’s hunts host a hunter pace in conjunction with their race meet. It’s usually held the following day, sometimes at the same spot, but always over the hunt’s home country.
Pairs of riders are timed as they travel cross-country over a preset course of two to four miles. There are divisions for hilltoppers, with optional jumping, and over fences for juniors and adults. For the daredevils, there is a fast time division for adults over fences, but most riders compete in the optimum
