The Rappahannock County High School varsity girls’ basketball team ended the Bull Run District regular season by dropping its last three games.
The team lost to George Mason 61-20, Madison County 51-25 and Clarke County 45-31. The team played extremely well in its last two games against Madison and Clarke but could not get over the hump and pick up that first District win.
Against the George Mason Mustangs the offense for the Lady Panthers struggled against the Mason zone defense. The Panthers were able to put up just five points in the first half while the Mustangs rolled out to a 26-5 half-time lead.
The offense, led by Samantha Brown’s seven points and Brittany Thornhill’s four points, picked up in the second half but was not nearly enough to catch the Mustangs. Brown’s seven points and Thornhill’s six paced the team.
