The Board of Supervisors has supported us financially the past several years but it’s a stopgap measure. It doesn’t replace having a Park and Recreation Department that would develop and maintain fields as well as deal with registration, etc.
Meanwhile, we’ve got volunteer groups and nonprofits around the county tripping over one another trying to raise funds from the same limited number of people and businesses.
So, instead of discouraging the volunteers who extend themselves to try and meet some of the unmet needs in the county, we should be celebrating and thanking them.
