Rappahannock County High School Environmental Science students have been busy this semester.
The latest project involved 18 juniors and seniors who visited all of the kindergarten, first, second, third and fourth grade classes at Rappahannock County Elementary School to teach science lessons.
The forestry team, consisting of Bobbie Jo Brown, Tfed Jenkins, Glen Swain and Hope Jacobs, taught a lesson on trees. Kindergartners made edible trees out of pretzel rods and sticks with green guacamole chips for leaves. Then each child was given a slice of a black locust tree to count the rings and see how cld the tree was. Mrs. Cannon’s class then figured out when the tree was started from seed.
