Wakefield’s “delegation” consisted of Ben Clark, Dorian Matthews, Robin Oyster and Allison Russo of Rappahannock County, and Mary Davis, Kelly O’Connor, Caroline Marschner, Alec Toth, and Catrina Toth of Front Royal.
Before the session began, the Embassy of Ecuador hosted a small reception and gave Wakefield students a tour of the ertibassy. Each member of Wakefield’s “Ecuador Delegation” was assigned to one of several committees: law and human rights, economics, rules, science and culture, thus giving the students an opportunity to participate at the committee level in the same manner as their OAS counterparts.
Over the four days, committees met, resolutions were drafted, caucuses were held among nations to obtain support for draft resolutions, and then during the “Third Plenary Session,” the General Assembly adopted or rejected those resolutions.
