I thought Tina Moulton’s letter
to the editor in the Feb. 12 edition of the Rappahannock News was unfortunate. Her letter makes it sound like volunteer groups are running loose in the county making decisions that are properly left to elected officials. The truth is that the number of unmet needs in the county call out for more volunteers and groups them are available.
If elected officials like Ron Frazier were more willing to step up and lead we wouldn’t need to depend on volunteers to fill so many gaps. I believe Mr. Frazier shares that radical right wing view that government is bad, spending should be minimal, and churches and volunteers should fill in where there is need. It’s always hard to argue with this viewpoint since it’s usually presented as a matter of religious faith.
