with first grade and the other with third grade. First graders were taught by Erica Hilscher, Christina Howard and Rudy Levick. Third graders were taught by Stuart Hensley, Adam Freitag and Laura Maloney. Both groups taught lessons about wild vs. domestic animals and land vs. water habitats. The older students played charades with the younger ones, acting out different wild and domestic animals living on land or in water and talked about ways to protect wild animals. Animal crackers were given as treats.
The soils team, Amanda Smith, Megan Smith and Torsten Hermansen, worked with second graders. They learned about soil profiles, organic matter and water percolation. They made soil profiles in a cup using Oreos, crushed graham crackers, vanilla pudding and gummy worms to simulate the layers of soil complete with worms. They loved eating
