The Virginia General Assembly on Jan. 22 passed resolution 120, proposed by the National League of Junior Cotillions designating Feb. 9-15 as National Courtesy Week in Virginia. '
Several members of the Culpeper chapter, Maia and Tiana Lucking and Lily Day attended an educational field trip to the State Capitol in Richmond on Feb. 11.
Several other NLJC members from Culpeper also attended. As most of the seventh grade eagerly awaits its trip to Williamsburg this spring to see where the first laws were created for our country in the House of Burgesses, these Cotillion members were invited to see Virginia’s lawmaking body, the General Assembly, in session.
Arriving at the State Capitol, they were greeted by House and Senate aides, John Messenger and Sara Capelli. The Cotillion youth were invited by the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate to the House and Senate Galleries where they were able to observe the General Assembly in action.
