By Don Audette Special to the Rappahannock News In the future, certain back roads in Rappahannock and Fauquier counties could become escape routes for eastbound commuters, if development takes place at Clevenger’s Comer. Why get tied up in traffic all along the U.S. 29-211 corridor, when it’s easier to bail out and get to Interstate 66 by using Crest Hill Road to Marshall? This worst-case scenario looks at potential traffic along U.S. 211 going toward Warrenton if Centex Homes, other planned subdivisions, and existing vacant parcels—plus potential parcels already zoned within a two-mile radius of Clevenger’s Comer—were to all have houses come on line between 2006 and 2020. This is unlikely to happen, but other housing developments along Route 229, or even along Route 522 north of the Town of Culpeper, could make up any difference as commuters stream up Route 229 on their way Meetings & Notices • The Rappahannock County courthouse and other county ' offices will be closed Monday, Oct. 11 in observance of Columbus Day. • The Rappahannock National Bank will be closed Monday, Oct. 11 and will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, Oct. 12. • All Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will be closed Monday, Oct. 11 in observance of Columbus Day. They will reopen Tuesday. • On Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 1:50 p.m. the School Board will have an open session meeting in the Rappahannock County High School auditorium. There will be no evening meeting this month. • On Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. the Washington Town Council will meet at the Town Hall on Gay Street.
