In 2003, some 17,000 vehicles used U.S. 211 each day between Clevenger’s Corner and Warrenton. That number could increase by 28,000 vehicles per day through normal growth by the year 2020.
But with full-scale development at Clevenger’s Corner, that number of vehicles could rise to around 45,000 per day.
For comparison, traffic through Gainesville now is more than 55,000 vehicles per day.
Two escape routes will be excluded because they involve ancient bridges. Route 645, with its one-lane bridge over Tapp’s Ford at the Rappahannock-Fauquier county line, is temporarily closed pending the construction of a replacement one-lane bridge of a similar design.
