During our lives, some of us might hive i conflict unique to those who live In this country...perhaps deciding whether to purchtse i larger home or to use that money to help others who do not have even the basic necessities. Helping others, even in the smallest amount, is another way showing appreciation that we were bom in this land of plenty.

In Matthew 19:21, our Lord commanded, “If you would be ' perfect, go, sell what you possess ; and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven...” Though we would probably not have to sell our possessions, when we give, we Instantly receive the ■ gift of warmth and establish the kind of spiritual eqiilibrium that comes from putting others first. Yet, where do we begin?

Most of our nation’s churches and synagogues provide the opportunity for giving, many sending volunteers and material gifts. Why not visit your local church or synagogue this week? Not only can you help the poor, but you will enrich your serul as wel. You will be twice blessed. I
