A wide-roofed porch shades the 10-inch thick doorway leading to two rooms of the first floor, displaying the log cabin structure. These two rooms have wide hand cut unfinished ceiling joists, small deep set windows and an interior wood wall.
The living room, separated by the staircase to the upper floor, features two Tudor style corner cupboards filled with Waterford crystal, along with many etchings and paintings. Collections of pewter and blue and white china encircle the room.
The old kitchen, now a sort of study, is part of the original house. Baskets hang from the old beams and books are stacked almost floor to ceiling. It is difficult to imagine that, in this small area, all the cooking, eating, storing and living of an entire family took place.
