Before the meeting, Rappahannock County Administrator John McCarthy outlined the basics of the work session and the process of reviewing the road plan.
McCarthy said VDOT brings a list of roads they think need work to the October meeting and^the supervisors bring their lists.
The purpose of the work session is to get a list to go to the public with in our November meeting, McCarthy said. “Then a vote is taken at the December meeting.”
Cubbage told the supervisors Monday that his department had no new projects for the sixyear secondary road plan for the county and that the list was essentially the same as last year’s. Cubbage noted that the bridge on Route 645, Tapps Ford Road, was not included on the list, but would come out of VDOT’s regional maintenance funds. Because the abutments and approach for the bridge are in good shape, only
bridge itself will be replaced.
If you want to add anything, we can discuss it, Cubbage said. “Everything basically moves up on the list. Our focus now is on major structures and bridges.”
Chairman Charles K. “Pete” Estes had the only addition, a petition he read from landowners along Route 653, Sycamore Ridge Road, requesting that improvements be made to their road.
Cubbage said VDOT has been using a process in other counties and wants to implement it
