This year two of her paintings are on loan to the “Art in Embassies” program, and will hang in the Ambassador’s residence in Slovenia.
“It’s hard to sell a painting you love,” says Purnell, “but it is also one of the most satisfying moments of my artistic life when someone really enters into the life of one of my paintings.”
This summer Purnell received an amazing email from a German man who had bought one of Purnell's paintings in Brussels in 1992.
“I love that painting so much,” he said. “I have been trying to find you for 12 years!”
He finally located her through the Rappahannock County library’s web site, where some of her paintings are posted.
