“I’m proud of how everybody played under these conditions,” Felts said. “It was hard to keep the ball on the fairway, there was water standing everywhere and you just couldn’t get a good lie."
Felts said the sand traps were full of water and the kids still ended up playing around the river flowing on parts of the fairway.
“Playing with water affects club selection,” Felts said. “There were high scores all around because of the water.”
The coaches met before the tournament to modify Virginia High School golf rules for the conditions.
“Most of the course was a hazard,” Felts said.
