Rappahannock County High School senior Tymeyer Freeman not only threw a personal best in discus, but broke the school’s record when competing at Madison County on April 13.
Freeman’s throw of 125 feet, 7 inches exceeded the record that B. J. Christian set in 2001 with a throw of 120 feet, 8 inches and also earned Freeman first place in the meet.
He also placed third in the long jump.
Rapp’s Corey Voorhies placed first in the shot put, throwing 39 feet, 11 inches. Voorhies’ discus throw of 98 feet, 3 inches put him in second place behind his teammate.
In the high jump, Samantha Brown leapt to 4 feet, 6 inches, tying Rapp’s Kelli Maige for first place.
Maige placed second in both shot (24 feet, 6.75 inches) and discus (52 feet, 5 inches).
In the triple jump, Mattie Nawrocki’s 31 feet, 3.5 inches put her in the lead as well as placing first in the 110 meter hurdles and first in the 300 meter hurdles.
Mawrocki took second in the long jump.
