Although there has not been a formal announcement made, Tbdd Gilbert of Shenandoah County has made it known that he will seek the 15th District House of Representatives seat in the November election.
“I am running,” Gilbert said via telephone interview, “there is no doubt I am in the race.”
Gilbert, a native of Shenandoah County, first became interested in a political career while attending Central High School in Woodstock, Va.
“I was inspired by key teachers who encouraged me to become involved in politics,” he said. Gilbert credits the school for opening up his world to government procedures, having served as president of the student body throughout his senior year of high school as well as a representative in the Model General Assembly for four years.
These experiences led to him attending Boys State, an American Legion program for students who show promise in leadership, as a 17-year-old. The students form themselves into “cities” and then elect a General Assembly, thus electing a House of Representatives delegate.
