When asked about Edwards’ position at Highland School, Headmaster David Plank said, “It is Highland School’s policy not to discuss personnel related matters. It is also our policy to cooperate fully with law enforcement when called upon to do so.”
According to Luke, the Commonwealth Attorney’s office has questioned Edwards’ previous employers, but the information they have received has been, “sketchy at best,” with no clear indication as to why Edwards left employment at any of the schools. v In January, Wakefield Country Day School announced that Edwards would be returning next season as the head coach for the girls’ basketball team.
“We did background checks on him,” Grove said, “and they all came up clean.”
Meanwhile, Edwards has been coaching the Extremes, a girls’ Amateur Athletic Union basketball for at least five years, coaching girls from Rappahannock and Fauquier counties as well as Manassas, Luray and Front Royal.
The former assistant coach, Brooke Miller of Washington has taken over as head coach.
