The region encompasses the area of the state north of Route 33 and Hanover County and there are no residency requirements. Responsibilities include conducting detailed fire safety and building code inspections of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings; reviewing plans and specifications; and providing building and fire code related technical assistance to building and fire officials. Evening and week-end hours may be required. A degree in engineering, architecture, or building construction preferred or equivalent experience and training may be acceptable.
