Forest tree planting for the spring of 1965 is drawing to a close, reports William C. Vemam, forester for the Virginia Division of Forestry. 51,000 seedlings have been planted in Rappahannock County this spring with 17 landowners in the county carrying out reforestation projects. Black walnut seed and white pine, loblolly pine, Virginia Pine, and yellow poplar seedlings were planted in the county on abandoned land and cut over woodland to produce stands of trees for future harvests of pulpwood and saw timber.
At the District 4-H demonstration contest held in Madison, Earl Yancey won a blue award in Public Speaking and was an alternate for a free to State 4-H Short-Course. Gloria Durden won a red ribbon in Dairy Foods and was second alternate to State 4-H Short Course. Barbara Durden and Mary Frances Jenkins
