Follow the Jordan River Trail to its intersection with the Mount Marshall Trail (stone marker) and make a sharp left turn up the Peak Trail. Some of the trail markers are a bit hard to see.
When ascending the ridge, just keep the steep north face of the Peak on your left hand, and stay on the ridge. Of course, there are maps available from the U. S. Park Service, at your favorite hiking supply store and, undoubtedly, on the Internet.
If you go, be careful. The Peak Trail .is pretty steep and rocky in some places. I find a walking staff to be very helpful.
There is another trail to the top, which I should mention. It begins on an old log road about a third of the way up the Peak Trail. That trail runs South and then circles around to the left (East), climbing the ridge that overlooks Horseshoe Hollow and then turning left (North) again, following that ridge to the peak. It has been several years since I was on that trail, and then there were many blowdowns and green briar patches that made the normally less strenuous trail more trouble than it was worth. Whether that trail has been cleared or not, I cannot say.
Perhaps some of our local hikers can provide some information on that. I would be happy to pass it along to the readers.
Again, the trail up the ridge, while a bit steep and rocky, is pretty well used, and not that hard to follow. Go. Enjoy the hike and the view. I have to go find the Ben-Gay.
