“That has an impact on our decisions. As people are moving into the region and new housing developments, they are in a mid-life period and looking for a retirement community,” said Rappahannock resident Sallie Morgan who is the director of Community Support Services for the Rappahannock Rapid an Community Services Board and Area Agency on Aging.
Morgan sees the elderly of the county as an asset. “The older population is a real strength for a community in regard to life experience and the kind of skills they bring and older people often volunteer their time,” said Morgan. “Older people are looking to move out of the county because they recognize their living situation in Rappahannock might not be easy,” Morgan added.
