A good music dictionary defines “camerata” as a ‘musical ensemble which performs a wide variety of music.’ The same reference book defines “cantores” to mean ‘of the singers.’£<

But definitions fail to do justice to the vocal ensemble known as Camarata Cantores. You have to hear them sing.

Organized 14 years ago by Culpeper County resident Helen Dill, the group, which is developing a very loyal and appreciative following in Fauquier, Culpeper and surrounding counties, is known for its distinctive vocal style characterized by a blended sound and good diction as well as dynamic contrast. Many who have heard the 28member group are struck by the lush but disciplined textures that reflect the ensemble’s ability to sing “as one voice.”

On Friday, June 3 you will have the opportunity to hear Camerata Cantores and Brass Classique perform its latest program, “All Ye Who Music Love”, at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Culpeper.
