Tb mark their first performance at the Theatre at Washington, Virginia, the Kennedy Center Chamber Players will play music of Beethoven, and Brahms in a late afternoon concert to be held on e Sunday, May 22 beginning at 4 p.m.
The exciting new chamber ensemble, founded during the 2003-2004 season, consists of National Symphony Orchestra principals. For this concert in Little Washington, clarinetist Loren Kitt, cellist David Hardy, and pianist Lambert Orkis will play the Trio in B Major, Op. 11 by Ludwig van Beethoven, and the TYio in A minor, Op. 114 by Johannes Brahms; Loren Kitt and Lambert Orkis will play the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in F minor, Op. 120, No. 1 of Johannes Brahms.
Invited to describe the music to be played at the upcoming concert, Lambert Orkis responded, “among the wind instruments, the clarinet has been held in the highest esteem by the greatest composers. Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Weber, Schumann, and Brahms have written some of their most beautiful music for this instrument.
