Rappahannock League Environmental
Protection Meeting
The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) will hold its May meeting on May 16 at the Rappahannock County * library. Socializing at 7 p.m. business meeting at 7:30 p.m. The agenda includes Action Plans remaining from the February offsite conference, finalization of the budget, and committee structure and make-up. The public is invited to attend.
GED Test
The GED test is coming to Rappahannock County on May, 17 and 24. This is the. real GED test and not a practice test. The GED testing center at GWC-Piedmont Technical Center is taking the test on the road in order to meet the needs of the rural communities they serve. Additionally, the Chief Examiner has split the test up in order to make it easier to focus on two subjects at a time. The GED test battery is five subjects: Language Arts, Writing; Language Arts, Reading; Social Studies; Science; and Mathematics. The cost of the GED test is $35 and must be paid by money order made out to Orange County School Board. You must pre-register in order to take the test and can do this at the Rappahannock County School Board office on Rt. 211. Anyone in need of a GED and over the age of 18 can take the test. If you have any questions, call the Regional Adult Education office at 825-0476.
Garden Club Meeting
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will hold its May meeting on Wednesday, May 18 at 1 p.m. at the Washington Fire Hall. The speaker for the day is Craig Tufts, the chief naturalist for National Wildlife, whose specialty is Backyard Habitat. The meeting is open to the public; and guests should inform hostess Joanne Tepper, at 9879876. in advance.
