Local Rappahnnock artist Robin B. Purnell was honored at a luncheon on April 30 for the benefactors and board members of the National Museum for Women in the Arts (NMWA). Purnell exhibited 15 of her paintings. Much of the artwork presented can be seen at the Rappahannock Library. Many of the paintings are of Rappahannock residents, as well as portraits drawn from Robin’s extensive travels in Russian and Central Asia.
Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the National Museum of Women in the Arts is the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to recognizing the contributions of women artists. The luncheon was part of an annual meeting of the NMWA board of directors and their National Advisory Board, with representatives from Italy and France also in attendance. The reception was held at Oakwood, the estate of Peggy and John Richardson in Delaplane. Purnell addressed
