School News
The high school classes are currently focusing on American writing from the 1800s in their English Literature classes. They also continue to work on their short SAT-style essays and have shown increased proficiency and improvement on their practice SAT tests. This semester is also focusing on longer, more detailed papers like students will be seeing in college.
Hearthstone School is currently holding a fundraiser selling spring bulbs and flowers seeds from Van Bourgoundien, a bulb company founded in 1893 which sells top quality Dutch bulbs and perennials. If anyone is interested in purchasing some bulbs and flowers for spring planting, please call the School Office at 540-987-9212. Funds raised will go towards our teacher training program for the summer Of 2006, when our teachers will go to Sunbridge, New York for training in the Waldorf method of education.
Hearthstone School’s Annual Auction will be held on April 8. The silent auction begins at 4 p.m., and the live auction begins at 5 p.m. Hearthstone is interested in obtaining donations from local artisans and craftspersons, as well as artwork, antiques and other items. All donations are tax deductible. If you would like to make a donation to the Auction, please contact the School office at 540-987-9212.
Hearthstone School’s Annual Open House will be held on Saturday, April 29 from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. Tours of the school and classrooms will be held, and teachers, parents and students will be available to meet with prospective families to discuss the School and its programs.
