athlete who recently finished as a state runnerup in wrestling. Lawrey missed most of last season with a broken foot, but Bell considered him to be “probably the best player on the field that night” during a scrimmage against Culpeper.
While Allen and Lawrey locked up their starting spots early, there is still room in the lineup for some juggling.
“We still have a lot of sorting out as far as positions,” Bell added. “But we’re got six out-ofdistrict games before the first district game to do that.”
In goal, Bell will have either senior Tommy Pendleton or sophomore Will Sonnett. The two split time last season.
“If Tbrnmy can prove himself, that’s our No. 1 choice in goal,” Bell said. “But he has to prove himself. I’d rather have Tbm in the net so I can have Will out in the field.
Will Sonnett also plays as a center midfielder.
The front line includes junior Alex Ramey and freshman Dean Hogan. Ramey, an all-state cross country runner, gives the Panthers the breakaway speed they desire. At 5-9, Hogan is a big target who takes directions well. Sophomore Owen Monroe and junior Juan Tisera also will be on the front line.
