Special to the Rappahannock News
Rappahannock County Library’s midwinter children’s writers and artist program, “By, George, It’s Washington’s Birthday,” attracted over 160 student participants and 28 exhibitors, as well as national media attention.
Entries came from diverse populations of home schooled, public and private schools as well as spanning into surrounding counties. National attention, was paid by CNN Education who linked the library as a “Related Site” to its feature on “Washington’s Birthday.” CNN Education writer Audrey Schewe commented, “You have changed the way that I think about this [“Washington’s Birthday”] day.”
“Join us in honoring the participants, commented Children’s Librarian, Cindy Arbelbide. “We are very inspired by the accuracy and creativity being displayed.” The “Show” continued at RCL through March 15.
