Ms. Theodore demands ANOTHER independent commission on “...the entire issue of torture”. I assume she is alluding to either Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo Bay detention facilities, or both. I doubt that she appreciates that the Army was already several months into its’ own Abu Ghraib investigation before The Press discovered another anti-military byline. An investigation which, after due process for the accused (once a requirement under our laws), resulted in the conviction and incarceration of those responsible for the undignified and unlawful activities documented. Activities that, however, are comparable to college fraternity indoctrinations: undignified, regrettable, but generally not injurious. I wonder if she knows that the recent UN Commission which condemned Guantanamo Bay assembled its “facts” from the accusations in news outlets such as A1 Jazeera, and had never even SEEN the facility which they and Senator Durbin compared to a Stalinist “gulag”. I wonder if she has ever turned her Washington Post to page A14 to find the retraction that, after all, the GITMO guards
