The Fauquier County Department of Community Development is seeking qualified applicants for a full time building inspector. This position will perform inspections of buildings and related systems to ensure compliance with applicable building codes to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the public. Qualified applicants must possess the knowledge and ability to perform building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspections; and to investigate residential, commercial, and industrial construction for compliance with applicable national, state and local code requirements and life safety practices. Preferred applicants should have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by course work in a variety of inspection specialties and extensive experience in the building construction trade. State of Virginia certification as a Combination Inspector and General Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Inspector is preferred. Starting salary is $31,017 to $40,322 with excellent fringe benefits.
