Driver pays a high price at the pump

A van caught on fire at the gas pump of the 211 Quickemart on Friday. Employees called 911 and were instructed to shut the gas pumps off, preventing a much more extensive fire. A dry chemical fire extinguisher was used to keep the flames under control until the Washington Volunteer Fire Department arrived and extinguished the blaze. Kimberly Hogan stands guard with the hose after fighting the fire, and Opie Crawford and Jonathan Bankston examine the scene to ensure there are no further flare ups. There were no injuries.
