The three applicants the Supervisors will consider at their May 1 meeting are Katherine Estes Baader, daughter of Chairman Estes, Monira Rifaat, a cattle farmer who has been active in Rappahannock on environmental issues, and Tom Taylor, a contractor and farmer who is a life long resident of Rappahannock.
On May 1, these three applicants will be interviewed in a closed session by the sitting Supervisors, and one will be appointed to serve Piedmont District until the November election. That special election will be open to any Piedmont resident, but it seems likely that whoever wins the appointment will have a leg up on the competition.
