Athletes of the
Month
Wakefield Country Day School’s Athletes of the Month for the month of February are both Rappahannock County residents. Joy Heddleston of Sperryville is the Female Athlete and Andrew Smith of Washington is the Male Athlete.
According to WCDS Athletic Director Mike Kenny, Joy Heddleston has been a key component of the Wakefield Dance Tfeam since its inception. “Throughout the season, Joy put in tireless hours not only performing, but also teaching and preparing her teammates to perform at their best. She balanced preparing for the Annual King’s Dominion Dance Competition with the demands that come with participation in Spring Varsity Girls’ Soccer.” Ms. Heddleston also has a lovely voice, and for the last several months she has been singing the National Anthem at sporting events at the school. She has been invited to sing the National Anthem at the Opening Ceremonies of the Front Royal Little League Season on April 22nd.
