The death of Board of Supervisors Chairman Charles K. “Pete” Estes earlier this month left a vacancy on the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors. While actually replacing Rappahannock icon Estes is probably impossible, his Piedmont District, which surrounds and includes Sperryville, still needs a Supervisor, and the BOS requested applications for the job at their April 3 meeting. Applicants were required to be residents of the Piedmont District, present 50 signatures from Piedmont residents supporting their application, and to agree to run in a special election to be held this November. Three applicants have emerged from this process.
