April 30: Lecture counter terrorism
Richard A. Clarke, international expert on security, White House Advisor to three Presidents,and author of “Against All Enemies” will be speaking on counter terrorism and his government experience. Following the lecture there will be refreshments and book signing under the tent adjacent to the Theatre. Spring Wildflower Walks
Bruce Jones has been naturalizing his property in Tiger Valley for years, reintroducing many native plants that are now scarce in the county and attracting native wildlife in the process. Join Bruce for a stroll around his property to see spring wildflowers and to hear about the reintroduction process. Wildflowers you might see include columbine, trillium, red buckeye, Virginia fringe tree, marsh marigold, spring larkspur, shooting star, trailing arbutus, and bird’s foot violet. The walks are April 30 at 2 p.m. and May 9 at 3 p.m. The event is free, but reservations are required and they’re filling up fast. Belle Meade Swim Camp has three one-week sessions: June 5-9 for 3-6 year olds, June 12-16 and August 28 - September 1 for 4-8 year olds. ice cream social
On Sunday, April 30, from 12 noon to 4 p.m., Chester Gap Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s Relay for Life Team ‘Faith, Hope and Love’ will be having a lunch and ice cream social along with haircuts done by Pam Davies from Tu-Tu Hair and Nails, a Tupperware fundraiser, and lots of great items like Home & Garden candles and a Mary Williams wreath. Come out and shop, have your hair done and enjoy sandwiches and ice cream. Fun starts at noon and continues until 4 p.m.
