Indians were among the greatest suppliers and like all humans, seemed unable to resist the deadly sin of greed. Encouraged by the Whites, the more powerful tribes, some like the Iroquois with firearms, raided their weaker counterparts to obtain more furs and skins. In the process, the natives actually participated in what amounted to near total self-destruction. Whatever local Indians remained by this time were essentially gone when the bugs, guns, and arrows had done their work. Other than that which has been mentioned, their history was gone with them.
