Each year around this time, over 4,000 communities worldwide, and more than 2.25 million people (including nearly a half million cancer survivors) take part in this event. Much-needed funds are raised for American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy and patient services. Rappahannock County volunteers led by many “team captains” hope this event can exceed the $60,000 they raised last year.
The Relay for Life is our community’s way to honor cancer survivors and to remember those we have lost to cancer in the fight. The Relay opens as cancer survivors walk, run, or wheelchair the first lap in celebration of their victory. All cancer survivors in the community are invited to register and attend the Relay.
