legal immigrants — people who came here with proper documentation to Ellis Island in New York, to Angel Island in San Francisco, and to many points in between. These stories of immigration are often stories of the world’s tired, poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe freely. For them, America was the golden door through which Lady Liberty guided them with her torch. Open Door for Some
That golden door is still open, and liberty’s torch still beckons for legal immigration. Illegal immigrants flout that ideal by ignoring our laws and affront the thousands of people who are trying to come here legally.
Regaining control of our borders would allow us to decide who enters our country. We would be able to distinguish between people who come here to get a job and those who come to do us harm. Tb ensure America’s safety and to uphold our laws — we must secure our borders first.
