Jason Jenkins was just too good Tuesday night.
The senior left-hander tossed a no-hitter and struck out 12 in leading the visiting Rappahannock County High School varsity baseball team to a 1-0 win over Bull Run District rival Madison County.
The win gave the Panthers the third seed in the upcoming district tournament. They will host sixth-seeded Manassas Park Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. Should Rappahannock win, it most likely would face second-seeded Strasburg in the semifinals Wednesday. The district final is set for May 26 at the highest seed’s home field.
Jenkins, who recently committed to play collegiate baseball at Christopher Newport University, looked, dominant against the Mountaineers. No Madison batter was able to hit the ball beyond the infield. The only hard-hit ball came in the bottom of the seventh when first baseman Ethan Russell jumped and snagged a liner to end the game.
