The Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office will participate in the “Click it or Ticket” mobilization to better enforce safety belt and child safety seat laws. This means that there will be increased high visibility patrols until the Memorial Day holiday. Under Virginia law, officers can cite anyone driving a car in which an occupant under age 16 is not wearing a safety belt or is not properly secured in a child safety seat.
“Wearing a safety belt triples your chance of surviving a crash. We are participating in Click it or Ticket because we’re committed to preventing the tragic loss of life and devastating injuries that come with not buckling up,” explained Major Chris Williams, of the RCSO.
