Mike Williams. The new truck holds 1000 gallons of water, 20 gallons of fire retardant foam , and has extra horsepower to get around the hilly terrain of Rappahannock. The cab seats six fully geared up fire fighters, and includes a screen hooked to a rear-view camera mounted on the back of truck, which makes it easier to back the massive truck up. “It’s been in the planning stage for the last couple of years,” explained Chief Bruce Williams, of the decision to buy a new truck. Wagon 4 replaces a truck that had been in use since 1988, which featured an open cab that was unsafe for firefighters in the event of an accident. The plan had called for the FHVD to buy a truck in 2007, but new emission standards moved the time table up. According to Chief Bruce Williams, the FHVD will purchase a new ambulance in 2008.
