Road trip
Jenkins and the US team had another chance to prove themselves, since the international exchange included a match at the Canadian Pony Club Nationals which was held near Toronto.
The international teams traveled together in a charter bus on their way up to Canada.
During the trip they stopped at Bethany College in West Virginia where they had a brief Tetrathlon scrimmage, called the Survival Tetrathlon Stettinius.
Each tetrathlon athlete ran a course that showcased some of their skills all at once. The contestants shot air pistols, ran a short distance to their horse, rode a mounted course and ran to the finish line.
Reed was allowed to participate in the scrimmage alongside members of the International team, with special permission from the director. He finished in seventh place receiving recognition for his efforts.
Following the match in West Virginia, the contestants spent several days sightseeing in New York pausing to spend time at Niagara Falls before arriving in Ontario for the final match.
