I went to bed Sunday night
excited and eager to attend
my first class of the fall semester. But when I woke up and checked my email as I do every morning, I found a message from school officials indicating that classes were canceled. As I read further with a bewildered look I soon found out that a spspected murderer was on the loose at my school and that no one should come to campus or leave their dorms. The school was gripped by paralysis as everything was on lock down and nobody could enter or leave the school; a manhunt was underway.
I immediately turned on CNN to see if this made national news, and sure enough they were showing video of students sprinting out of Squires Hall with terror in their eyes accompanied by armed police officers and SWAT team officials. It was believed that the escaped convict William Morva, 24, had been seen inside Squires Hall and that he may have a hostage. There were SWAT teams on guard, snipers on the roof and local police surrounding the building as a helicopter chopped above trying to find Morva; quite an unexpected first day of school to say the least.
