1 he Atlantic Seaboard Virufera Wine Competition was inaugurated in 2005 to showcase the growth in numbers and quality of the wine industry in the Eastern United States and to promote market and consumer awareness and appreciation of these wines, as well as to establish a public perception that the East Coast is a wine producing region equal to that of the West Coast. The competition was open to wineries from all Atlantic coastal states, plus Pennsylvania, Vermont and West Virginia.
