The offending hummer was, as I have noted, male. But, as a rule, both male and female hummers are aggressive. That’s just the way they have evolved. Not so with us humans. With us, the male is far more aggressive than the female. Males, as soldiers, fight wars, pre-emptive or otherwise, they play professional football, beat up their wives, and act as bullfighters, steeplejacks, truck drivers and exterminators in an unregulated, dog-eat-dog, devil-take-the-hindmost, corporate-dominated marketplace, among other things.
