Olympian summer
The two boys spent their entire year training for these events. Previously this summer they had the opportunity to train at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
It was part of a program that invited top tetrathletes to try their hand at Olympic level modem pentathlon. “It was very impressive,” Jenkins said. “I liked adding the fencing part, although I didn’t have a lot of previous experience.”
Future goals
As Jenkins prepares for further academics, he plans on pursuing the modem pentathlon. He recently added fencing to his training schedL ule by joining a fencing club in Winchester, Virginia.
Jenkins will graduate froin Lord Fairfax Community College in May and is applying to the Naval Academy and West Point. >
Both of the military academies train heavily for competitions in the modem pentathlon.
Reed is attending Rappahannock High School this year as a freshman. His goal is to qualify for the next International Exchange which will be held in Britain and Ireland.
